Laminate flooring is suitable for most areas of the home, particularly high traffic spaces such as hallways, living rooms and bedrooms, thanks to its durability and affordability. For areas with higher moisture levels, such as bathrooms, we would usually recommend alternative flooring options to help ensure better long term longevity.

Can laminate be fitted over my existing floor?

Often yes — laminate can be floated over many existing hard floors provided they're level and securely fixed. I always inspect the subfloor first; if there's significant unevenness or damp issues I recommend removal and correct preparation before laying laminate.

How long does installation take?

Accepted Answer

Typical single-room installs take one day for standard living rooms; larger jobs or subfloor levelling can add a day or two. I give a clear timeline in the quote and keep you updated if anything unexpected arises.

Do I need underfloor heating-compatible laminate?

Accepted Answer

Some laminate products are compatible with water or electric underfloor heating but must be installed with the manufacturer’s guidelines and suitable underlay. I’ll advise on compatibility during the survey to ensure the boards and system work together safely.

How do you handle skirting, thresholds and expansion gaps?

Accepted Answer

We leave manufacturer recommended expansion gaps around all perimeter edges to allow the floor to move naturally over time. These are neatly finished with scotia, bespoke trims, thresholds or T bars where needed to create a clean transition between rooms and floor finishes. We can also install new skirting boards for a more seamless overall finish.
